The Ellison Medical Foundation will award $150,000 over 2 years for the expansion of cell lines as part of the Human Genome Diversity Project-Centre d'Etude du Polymorphisme Humain Initiative. This project will contribute to understanding human genetic variation, evolution, and population genetics.

The Undeveloped Drug
1998 New Initiatives Award in Other Programs

The Ellison Medical Foundation will award $150,000 over 2 years for a project designed to identify a drug whose development has been stalled or abandoned, to rescue its pharmaceutical potential, and to proceed with its development toward clinical use. Specific needs for the drug in an underdeveloped country will be assessed and bringing it to clinical use will be subject to academic review, ethical analysis, and to consultation with legal and governmental agencies; the end result will also provide an analysis of how this development can be accomplished.
